Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
