And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
