Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
