O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 Your religion is but one religion -- and I am your only Lord, therefore, fear Me. 52 But then they divided up their order into different creeds, each section rejoicing in what it had come to have. 53 So leave them to their ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children 55 We vie in good works for them? Nay, but they are not aware. 56 Surely they who from fear of their Lord are cautious, 57 Those who believe in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord – 59 And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord - 60 These people hasten to perform goodness, and it is they who shall reach it first. 61 We do not burden a soul beyond capacity, for We have a record that tells the truth. No wrong will be done to any one. 62 Nay, their hearts are in overwhelming ignorance with respect to it and they have besides this other deeds which they do. 63 So that when We seize the affluent among them with affliction, they will begin to implore for help. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 My revelations were recited to you, but you turned your backs 66 [and,] impelled by your arrogance, you would talk senselessly far into the night." 67 Have they not pondered the saying, or came there upon them that which came not upon their fathers, the ancients? 68 Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging? 69 or you said that he is possessed by satan? In fact, he has brought you the truth, but most of you dislike it. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Are you asking them for something? What Allah has given you is the best. He is the Best of providers. 72 You are calling them to a Straight Way, 73 but those who do not believe in the Hereafter are ever prone to deviate from the Right Way. 74 ۞ And though We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, still they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 Already We have seized them with the punishment, but they neither humbled themselves to their Lord, nor did they beseech Him, 76 So that when at last We open up the gate of severe punishment on them they will be overwhelmed with despair. 77
