S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension. 2 How many generations We have destroyed before them! And they cried out when it was too late to escape. 3 They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 "Has the Reminder been sent down to him (alone) from among us?" Nay! but they are in doubt about My Reminder (this Quran)! Nay, but they have not tasted (My) Torment! 8 Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 A very host of parties is routed there! 11 Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, 12 Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. 13 Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. 14
