Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
