The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
