Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
