Nay, and by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 About the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
