Thamood, too, belied Our warnings. 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 (Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar. 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 Eventually, they summoned their companion, and he undertook the (outrageous) task and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us). 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
