(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
