(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
