The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
There hath asked an asker for the torment about to befall. 1 which will inevitably seize the disbelievers. 2 a chastisement from Allah, the Lord of the ascending steps, 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient with gracious patience. 5 they see it as being far off; 6 But We see it very near. 7 On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper 8 And then the mountains shall become like unto wool dyed. 9 and no bosom friend will enquire about any of his bosom friends 10 They will be seeing them; the guilty will wish if only he could redeem himself from the punishment of that day, by offering his sons. 11 And his wife and his brother. 12 And his nearest kindred who shelter him 13 And all those who are in the earth – then only if the redemption saves him! 14 But no! There is a raging blaze 15 Plucking out (his being) right to the skull!- 16 and it shall call him who withdrew and turned his back 17 and amassed (riches) and hoarded. 18 ۞ Verily man is impatient by nature: 19 Very nervous when touched by misfortune. 20 And niggardly when good touches him; 21 Except those who closely follow (the Book of God), 22 Those who remain constant in their Salat (prayers); 23 They are those who assign a certain share of their property 24 to those who ask [for help] and to the destitute; 25 and those who believe in the Day of Judgement 26 And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord - 27 Verily! The torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, 28 who guard their carnal desires 29 Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed - 30 But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers. 31 And those who keep their trusts and covenants; 32 And those who are in their testimonies upright 33 and who take due care of their Prayer: 34 They will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss. 35
