A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you, let there be no heaviness in your heart about it, so that you may warn by means of it and it is a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. 4 And when Our scourge fell upon them their only cry was: 'We are indeed transgressors.' 5 (On the Day of Reckoning) We shall question the people to whom We had sent Our apostles, (if they followed their teachings), and will question the apostles. 6 Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent. 7 The weighing that day is true; he whose scales are heavy -- they are the prosperers, 8 and those whose scales are light will be the losers, for they, are the ones who have been unjust to Our signs. 9 And surely, We gave you authority on the earth and appointed for you therein provisions (for your life). Little thanks do you give. 10
