Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your deeds; yet He forgives much. 30 and you cannot elude Him on earth, and you will have none to protect you from God [in the life to come,] and none to bring you succour. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, smooth-running through the ocean, (tall) as mountains. 32 if He willed, He could bring the wind to a standstill and they would lie motionless on the surface of the sea, truly there are signs in this for anyone who is steadfast and grateful, 33 or else He may cause them to perish because of what they have wrought; and [withal,] He pardons much. 34 But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape. 35 So whatever you have been given is but a passing enjoyment for this worldly life, but that which is with Allah (Paradise) is better and more lasting for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and put their trust in their Lord (concerning all of their affairs). 36 And those who avoid heinous sins and indecencies, and when they are wroth forgive. 37 And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, 38 and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. 39 The meed of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereunto; but whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his hire is on Allah; verily He approveth not the wrong-doers. 40 And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame]. 41 Only those who do injustice to people and commit rebellion on earth for no reason will be questioned. They will suffer a painful torment. 42 And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination. 43
