The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
