The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
