Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house: 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
