This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 Had We revealed it to a non-Arab 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 and be kind to your believing followers. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley? 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
