The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right hand; 38
