The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome. 3 Within a few (up to nine) years time; only for Allah is the command, before and after; and the believers will rejoice on that day. 4 With the help of Allah, He helps whom He wills, and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 5 It is a promise of Allah. Allah faileth not His promise, but most of mankind know not. 6 They know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of the End of things they are heedless. 7 Do they not reflect on themselves? Allah created the heavens and the earth and whatever lies between them in Truth and for an appointed term. Yet many people deny that they will meet their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Therefore evil was the end of those who did evil, for they denied the signs of God and made fun of them. 10
