۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 To Lot, We gave judgment and knowledge and saved him from the village that had been committing corrupt deeds; for they were an evil nation and were debauched. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
