The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
