The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who ward off (evil). 2 who believe in the unseen, establish the Salats and expend (in Our way) out of what We have bestowed on them; 3 And who believe in this (Qur’an) which has been sent down upon you, O beloved Prophet, (Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) and what was sent down before you; and are certain of the Hereafter. 4 These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful. 5 As for those whose fate is disbelief, whether you warn them or do not warn them it is all one for them; they will not believe. (Because their hearts are sealed see next verse). 6 Allah has sealed their hearts and their ears, and on their eyes is a covering; and for them is a terrible punishment. 7

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
