The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And affirms goodness, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
