The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
