Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky breaks apart 1 And when the stars fall, scattering, 2 the oceans are merged together, 3 And when the graves are ransacked, 4 A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind. 5 O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?- 6 Who created you, shaped you, and made you well-proportioned, 7 Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee. 8 No! But you deny the Recompense. 9 but you should know that there are angelic guards 10 Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds): 11 who know what you do. 12 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous: will indeed be in bliss, 13 And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire. 14 They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment, 15 And will not be able to hide from it. 16 They will never be able to escape from it. Would that you knew what the Day of Judgment is! 17 Again, what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? 18 A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
