The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
