A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad. 1 The Book has been sent down to you; so let your chest have no constriction because of it, in order to warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember. 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; 6 We shall recount (their deeds) to them with knowledge, for We were never absent (and saw all they did). 7 And the weighing on that Day is certain, then whosesoever balances will be heavy, those! they shall fare well. 8 And those whose scales are light are the people who put themselves to ruin – the recompense of the injustice they used to do to Our signs. 9 We settled you on the earth, and provided means of livelihood for you in it; but little are the thanks you give. 10
