The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ They ask you concerning the spoils of war? Tell them: 'The spoils of war belong to Allah and the Messenger. So fear Allah, and set things right between you, and obey Allah and His Messenger if you are true believers. 1 true believers are those whose hearts tremble with awe at the mention of God, and whose faith grows stronger as they listen to His revelations. They are those who put their trust in their Lord, 2 Who establish regular prayers and spend (freely) out of the gifts We have given them for sustenance: 3 those are, in truth, the believers. They shall have degrees with their Lord and forgiveness, and a generous provision. 4 As your Lord caused you (O Muhammad SAW) to go out from your home with the truth, and verily, a party among the believers disliked it; 5 disputing with thee concerning the truth after it had become clear, as though they were being driven into death with their eyes wide open. 6 Behold! Allah promised you one of the two (enemy) parties, that it should be yours: Ye wished that the one unarmed should be yours, but Allah willed to justify the Truth according to His words and to cut off the roots of the Unbelievers;- 7 That He might justify Truth and prove Falsehood false, distasteful though it be to those in guilt. 8 When you sought aid from your Lord, so He answered you: I will assist you with a thousand of the angels following one another. 9 He gave you the good news only to reassure your hearts, for victory comes from God alone, and certainly God is all-mighty and all-wise. 10
