The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
