When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
