۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he asked his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They said: "Are you expressing your true ideas before us or are you jesting?" 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 They said, 'Bring him before the people's eyes; haply they shall bear witness.' 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
