And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
