(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
