The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lut said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing." 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
