The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
