۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
