Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 to loose upon them stones of clay 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
