The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and the Book inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 and the roof uplifted 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
