The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the mount. 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 and the roof uplifted 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
