Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait. 31 Do their minds prompt them to say such things, or are they a people immersed in transgression?” 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 Then let them bring a discourse like it, if they speak truly. 34 Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing! 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Or, has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or askest thou a hire from them so that they are with debt laden? 40 Or is the hidden with them, by which they pass judgements? 41 Or are they planning a conspiracy? So the conspiracy will befall only upon the disbelievers. 42 Or have they any god beside Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)! 43 And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth, 48 And in the night, give Him glory too, and at the setting of the stars. 49
