I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 except those of the right hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
