Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
