The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
