The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
