The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those of the right hand. 38
