A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor good. 44 For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury), 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate? 58 Do ye create it or are We the Creator? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Is it you who cause it to grow - or are We the cause of its growth? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 Verily we are undone. 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Then, exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 74
