Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
