Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
